Gods Chosen People
Question from Larry on 5/18/2009:

What is the Church's teaching on the current Jewish people? Are the Jews still considered Gods Chosen People? If so, how do they fit into Gods plan?

Answer by David Gregson on 10/16/2009:

Read Romans 9 - 11. As descendants of the original recipients of God's Covenant, the Jews still hold a special place in His heart. However, as long as they fail to recognize Jesus Christ as the promised Messiah, they cannot fully benefit from the New Covenant, in which the Old Covenant was fulfilled. It is now the Church, the New Israel, which is God's chosen people. Even so, St Paul assures us that one day the Jews, "all Israel," will be grafted back into the tree, whose roots are their ancient patriarchs and prophets, when they recognize Jesus as Lord.
