another thought on Al Smith dinner invite
Question from paul caron on 8/8/2012:

Dear Judie; This note is in response to a previous request for a petition to disinvite Obama to the Al Smith dinner. My initial reaction was the same, but after considering the situation and possible motives that might have influenced Cardinal Dolan, what follows is my conclusion as a trying to be faithful Catholic.

There is no honor being being awarded to Obama.

Jesus sat and shared at table with sinners and tax collectors, he was also excoriated by his followers, is Cardinal Dolan greater than Christ?

I believe the Cardinal is sending a visual but silent message to unbelievers, that the Catholic Church is much greater than those with little minds who are bent on destroying Christianity.

Have faith in Christ and the Holy Spirit, even if we fail here on earth to convert wayward souls, know that if we persevere in faith we have won the war.

Answer by Judie Brown on 8/15/2012:

Dear Paul

I have written a commentary on the question, WHAT WOULD JESUS DO, that responds to your claim. While it is true that Christ sat with sinners, he did not provide a photo op to anyone interested in using such a photo to further the campaign a known pro-abortion president.

If you would like to read my thoughts, see http://www.all.org/article/index/id/MTA4MzQ/
