This is the same person that asked a question about Euthanasia recently. While I understand your point of view, I think you skirted around my question a bit. I asked how Euthanasia should be illegal for everyone. You say that the Lord decides our death (unless we're murdered or something along those lines of course). But there is a fine line between what God declares to be wrong and what should be against the law for all people. Us Catholics should obviously not participate in Euthanasia, but what about other beliefs? In particular, why should an Atheist be bound by God's laws? He or she does not believe yet must follow the rules of OUR beliefs? They will receive their judgement in death, who are we to decide for them? I'm not sure why you say a man considers himself God because he has the free will to decide for himself what actions he takes. Atheists are Atheists because they do not BELIEVE in God, not because they are arrogant or consider themselves better than Him. Again, all of this is respectful and I hate to sound like I want to correct you. I just need to ask these questions. |

Dear Anonymous I think you missed the whole point. An atheist is someone who does not believe in
God and instead he may establish his rules for behavior without regard to right or
wrong. However the law if it is to be a just law should be based on never doing harm
or causing harm to another person, no matter whether religious or otherwise. The "golden rule" applies to all human beings and while every person has the right to
exercise his free will, that does not justify perpetrating injustice on another person. If your argument was applied across the board we would not have speeding laws,
laws against bank robbery and so forth. Merely because an atheist has no faith in
God does not make it acceptable for that atheist to harm another. Judie Brown |
