brain dead
Question from wondering on 7/14/2012:

The child in this report has been declared brain dead. According to this report, "even if a person is brain dead, he or she can still have a heart beat with or without the help of a ventilator" and "With new technology patients who were dead could still have a heartbeat -- and give the false impression that they were very much alive while kept on a ventilator."

Could a person be really dead in this instance?

Answer by Judie Brown on 7/16/2012:

Dear Wondering

The natural end (true death) occurs when the soul separates from the body. Thus a person cannot be nearly dead or barely alive; either he is dead or he is alive. Sadly there are those who have, for a variety of reasons, confused the simple facts of when death occurs, but the true end which is natural death is still very easy to ascertain.

Can a machine keep a dead body alive? I do not think that it can because if God has called the person home, death has occurred. .
