re: Abortion and Health
Question from anonymous on 10/28/2009:

Can you give us some examples from the medical community that we can reference when we tell others that the medical community says there is never a "life of the mother" need for abortion? Thanks.

Answer by Judie Brown on 10/28/2009:

Dear Anonymous:

Here are references for you:

Are There Rare Cases When an Abortion Is Justified? Official position statement of the Association of Pro-Life Physicians http://www.prolifephysicians.org/rarecases.htm

Statement by Alan F. Guttmacher, M.D., former medical director of Planned Parenthood

Today it is possible for almost any patient to be brought through pregnancy alive, unless she suffers from a fatal disease such as cancer or leukemia, and if so, abortion would be unlikely to prolong, much less save the life of the mother.
