Confirmation for an adult
Question from Linda on 09-23-2015:
Our daughter chose not to be confirmed when she was in high school but would like to go through confirmation as an adult. What is typically the process for doing this? Does she need to go through an RCIA program? She has been baptized and has had First Communion but not confirmation.
Answer by Catholic Answers on 09-25-2015:
Linda--

Your daughter should make an appointment to talk with her pastor and find out the procedure for her parish. In many American parishes, adult confirmands are placed in the RCIA program for the sake of efficiency. They are then confirmed at the Easter Vigil, along with the catechumens and the candidates who are being received into the Church. The only difference for adult confirmands is that they may continue to go to confession and receive Communion while going through the RCIA program.
