Marriage to an unbaptized person Question from J.F. on 01-16-2013: |
My daughter is marrying an unbaptized person. She is presently working to obtain a dispensation to do this from her local diocese and is planning to marry in another diocese. For the ceremony, can she have a Mass? If not, what would be the correct ceremony? |

J.F.-- A nuptial Mass is only an option when both parties are baptized Christians. When one of the parties is unbaptized but willing to marry in a Catholic church, then the couple is married in a nuptial liturgy outside of Mass. Your daughter's wedding celebrant can explain to her the ceremony. Michelle Arnold www.ewtn.com |
