EWTN Catholic Q&A
Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration On-Line
Question from James on 06-12-2008:

In my search of Catholic Websites I came across these two:

Both of these sites feature Eucharistic Adoration on-line via web cams. They focus a web cam on a monstrance in an adoration chapel containing the Blessed Sacrament. It broadcasts an image of the Real Presence in real time.

Savior.org lists their mission statement as follows:

Savior.org's mission is that of increasing awareness and devotion to our Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament. We also seek to bring the live image of His living Presence to the homebound, the workplace, and to remote areas around the world. I believe that both of these organizations are sincere in their love of Christ and devotion to adoration of Him in the Blessed Sacrament.

But, is this form of adoration licit? Can one receive the same graces as one could in adoration in person? Or is this akin to watching Mass on TV when one cannot attend in person?

Answer by Richard Geraghty on 02-21-2009:

Dear James,

Common sense tells us that it would be better to be at mass or adoration in person than via TV. But often one cannot be there in person. So TV is a great help.
