Saying Grace before meals
Question from Edward L. Feiner on 7/3/2001:

Is there an official way of saying Grace before meals? I see people at eateries saying Grace as I do. Some lower their heads, give thanks and then proceed to eat. Others Sign themselves, and then lower their heads, give thanks and again Sign themselves, and then proceed to eat. Is there an official Church adopted and proper rule? Is there a small phamplet of short prayers of Grace for teaching young children? God Bless, Ed

Answer by Dr. William Carroll on 7/4/2001:

There is no "official" way to say grace before meals. Most people say simply "Bless us, O Lord, and these thy gifts, which we are about to receive from Thy bounty." - Dr. Carroll
