DEVOTION TO CHRIST
Devotion to the King of Kings |
0:30 |
Constantine, the first Christian Emperor, saw Christ as the
King of Kings. In modern Society, we don't really like
Kings - we prefer a Democracy. But Christ is not like other
kings of this world. He is the Crucified King. He told
Pilate, "My Kingdom is not of this World." Our Lord's
"kingship" comes from His Divinity, His Divine nature.
Jesus is one person, a divine person, with two natures. St.
Leo teaches that Jesus was perfect in divinity, of one
substance with the Father in Divinity and perfect in His
Humanity like us in every way except sin. |

OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE AND MIRACULOUS MEXICO |
1:00 |
Join EWTN as we celebrate the Feast Day of Our Lady of
Guadalupe, December 12th. Our Lady appeared to a poor
farmer, Juan Diego and instructed him to have the Bishop
build a basilica in Mexico City. A skeptic, the Bishop
asked for a sign of "castilian r oses," only known to grow
in Spain, to discern the authenticity of this Lady from
Heaven. Juan received roses from the Lady and placed them
in his tilma. As he presented the roses to the Bishop, an
Image of the Mother of Jesus appeared on the front of hi s
tilma. This image is still on the tilma today and is
located in the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico
City. After 700 years, scientist cannot explain how this
tilma has not decayed or faded. This visit from the Mother
of Jesus converted milli ons of Aztec and Maya Indians in
Mexico. Our Lady of Guadalupe is Patroness of the Americas
and of the Unborn. |

LUKE: MEEK SCRIBE OF CHRIST |
0:30 |
Jesus' Birth and Presentation in the Temple-Jesus is brought
for fulfillment of the rituals of the law, and Mary to
complete her purification. Simeon, after recognizing Jesus
as the Savior of Israel, prophecies that Mary's heart will
be pierced by a sword of sorrow. The finding in the Temple
reveals that Jesus clearly understood His Messianic
Identity. St. John the Baptist appears in the wilderness,
preaching repentance and conversion to God. Our Lord is
baptized by John, and the Holy Spirit descends upon Him,
confirming His Sonship and Messianic role. |

LUKE: MEEK SCRIBE OF CHRIST |
0:30 |
Luke explains Christ's genealogy and its significance, and
then details the Tempting in the Desert, the precursor to
Our Lord's Public Ministry, and the lessons taught by our
Lord's response to Satan's tempting. Jesus fasts for 40
days, in preparation for the Ministry He has to do. Satan
manipulates Scripture to tempt Jesus to doubt God's
Providence, but our Lord reveals His wisdom in refuting
Satan's ploys. Once He returns to Galilee, His Public
Ministry begins, as He proclaims His role in the Synagogue.
The people marvel, but then rise up to drive Him from the
town. He casts out demons, and begins His work of prayer
and teaching. Simon Peter is called, and Jesus heals the
leper. |

SCANDAL OF THE CROSS
Heresies Denying the Incarnation |
0:30 |
St. Justin Martyr was beheaded for the Faith in 167. Wrote
first Christian apology for the Faith, defending the Church
and her teaching. Samaritan from Nablus, he studied Greek
philosophers, especially Plato. Tatian (110), a friend of
Justin, later founded Encratite sect called Aquarii. They
were gnostics, and believed matter was evil. One member was
Bishop Severus of Gabala, Spain, who modified it and formed
a group called the Severians. Severians believed matter was
uncreated and eternal, they denied the Resurrection of the
dead, free will, the law of Moses, condemned marriage as
evil (St. Irenaeus argued the Faith against this.). The
Monarchians (orig. Patripassionists) founded by Praxeas
believed the Father and Jesus were one. Praxeas was
influential in Rome against the Montanists, helped the Pope
lead the condemnation of Montanus. Tertulian, in his work,
"Adversus Praxeam" accuses Praxeas of being
anti-Trinitarian. |
