Rosary with Fr. Mariusz Fr. Mariusz (leading prayer for the rosary. That day was the day of the joyful mysteries): (the Creed) …I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen. Fr. Mariusz (leads the Lord’s Prayer): Our Father, who art in heaven hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven… All: Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Fr. Mariusz - Pray for the gift of faith to be able to deepen our faith, in spite of our struggles and doubts. May we humbly trust in the love of God for us. Fr. Mariusz (leads Hail Mary): Hail Mary, full of grace the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus… All: Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of death. Fr. Mariusz: For the gift of hope – a wonderful gift to have – that’s not so much hoping for something, but living with confidence, and living with trust. Living with understanding of God’s providence in our lives that we take through each year. Fr. Mariusz (leads Hail Mary): Hail Mary, full of grace the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus… All: Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of death. Fr. Mariusz: The gift of love, charity. It calls us to love as Christ loved us, a love that Christ revealed on the cross. His heart is broken for us, but his heart is opened for us – and blood pouring from his side. Its reminder that we are called to be broken for each other, and we are called to pour out ourselves for each other. Fr. Mariusz (leads Hail Mary): Hail Mary, full of grace the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus… All: Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of death. Fr. Mariusz: Glory be to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. All: As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Fr. Mariusz: First Joyful Mystery – the Annunciation. We are reminded - in a little village – far from any place that anybody even heard about. A little teenager girl – a young girl – a woman of faith was asked to say yes, to the very mystery of God in a way that would change history forever. And as she said yes, the Word became flesh in her womb, and God and man became forever one. We might pray, during this mystery, for members of our families - those who are suffering in any way – physically or mentally. Those who are suffering spiritually – those who are far from God. That they would encounter God in a powerful way, and would have ability, through Mary’s prayer to say “yes” to God Anna: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us… All: …And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Anna: Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the Fruit of thy womb, Jesus… All: …Holy Mary, Mother of God. Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. This ten times. Anna: Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit… All: As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Anna (leads all in prayer): Oh my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy. Fr. Mariusz: The Second Joyful Mystery – The Visitation. There’s no real religious encounter with God that doesn’t lead to charity, to love. And perhaps the truest way to know if our religion is true and if our faith is real is the way of – we treat each other, the way we live our lives with each other. The Scriptures remind us that the man that says that he loves God, but hates his neighbor is a liar. And so, our love for God, our encounter with God leads us to service, as Mary uh – encountered the Holy Spirit. Scriptures tell us that the first thing she did was to take care of her cousin who was in need – someone who really needed protection, and to be watched over in service. And so this mystery, I think, calls us to understand that our encounter with God should lead us to service, should lead us to the poor, should lead us to make decisions about our life, to see whether priorities are really - to see if there is any room in our life to see if there is any room for the poor, any room for the sick, for the people who are marginalized. And if there’s not, then we need to reexamine the relationship with God and our lives. Anna: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Amen. Ten times. The Third Joyful Mystery – The Birth of Our Savior… Fr. Mariusz: …Unexpected, and very often typical in places, her (Mary’s) “yes” led her to become a homeless woman, to become a refugee, to become pursued in Egypt, her life in danger, to have a baby born in a stable that was filthy and dirty. But in her “yes” she brought life, and she brought light, she brought hope to the world. And in our own lives, sometimes our “yes” to Christ does not mean that we will be separated from suffering or danger, and sometimes even experiences that are painful. But the realization that in saying “yes” we bring life, we bring hope, we bring truth, whenever we say yes to God, the world becomes brighter, becomes more beautiful. Fr. Mariusz: In the section of the Bronx, where I live, there are more babies that are killed by abortion than are born. There are more places that kill babies than allow babies to be born. So, we need Christians to say yes, to have the courage to say yes to God, no matter what the price, no matter what the cost. Anna: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. All: Give us this day, our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Anna: Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the Fruit of thy womb, Jesus… All: …Holy Mary, Mother of God. Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. |
