And speaking of prayer

At Solesmes, the monks there actually spend about four hours in community prayer. That would include the Mass in the Liturgy the hours. They spend one hour in private or personal prayer.

The question is, will we have our own cells? Actually, here, we won't. They have two dormitories. One will be for men, and one will be for women. They actually do, though, have guesthouses for men, and we're such a large group that we can't do that. Now, when you go to a monastery or even a convent, people sometimes wonder why only men are invited to – can stay at the guesthouse for only men. Let's say, at a convent, it would be only for women. Usually, it's because it's located within the cloistered area. So for example, at Solesmes, the guestrooms are located within the monastic enclosure; therefore, only men can stay there.

Actually, down the street from the Abbey is a women's abbey – St. Cecilia's, and I hope we get an opportunity to go there. In fact, I find it – it's really unique when you listen to the different styles of chant. This is my own kind of experience. But I find that the men's Gregorian chant kind of expresses the mystery of God. Whereas the women or the nuns, it's very angelic, the angelic side of God.

So it's really neat to get that contrast. And are 80 monks at the men's monastery and 35 nuns at the women's monastery. And the women's monastery actually has both –. They do provide guest housing for both men and women, but that's because it's not within the monastic enclosure.

Oh, to enter? No, no. So if I was to apply, I don't think I would be turned down, but...

Oh, the question was, do you have to have a musical background to enter? And a couple of interesting stories – there are actually two American monks here. One actually is currently present here at the monastery. Another one is over their Lithuanian monastery. The one wheel meet tonight is Father Michael Bozell. How many of you know the name William F. Buckley Jr.? Father Michael Bozell, who we'll meet tonight, he's the nephew of him.
