THE HOLY LAND WITH FATHER PETER VASKO
Journey to where it all started with Father Peter Vasco, President,
Franciscan Foundation for the Holy Land. This series explores the
historical and present-day dynamics of the Holy Land, and the Catholic
Church’s place within it.
On location from some of the most sacred places on earth, we learn how
history and politics have affected the lives of Catholics who live in
the Holy Land today.

Episodes Include:
The Church Of
The Annunciation - In this episode, viewers are treated to an
on-location visit to the Church of the Annunciation in Nazareth, the
Custos of the Holy Land, and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.
The Church Of
The Nativity - Viewers enjoy an on-location visit to The
Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. Another highlight is a discussion
with two Franciscan pastors in the Holy Land.
The Mount Of
The Beatitudes - Viewers are treated to an on-location visit
to the Mount of Beatitudes, on the Sea of Galilee, where Fr. Peter Vasko
teaches on the Beatitudes. We also hear from a lawyer who is working for
the Society of St. Ives, which represents Palestinian Christians in the
Israeli court system
The Church Of
The Transfiguration - Fr. Vasko visits the Church of the
Transfiguration on Mt. Tabor, where Peter, James and John experienced
the Transfiguration of Christ.
There’s also an interview with an engineer from the Franciscan Family
Center, who builds homes and trains local Christians in construction.
The Cenacle -
Fr. Peter Vasko visits the Cenacle Room, the location where
the Upper Room of the Last Supper originally existed. He also tells of
the history of alternating Franciscan and Muslim control over the room
throughout the centuries.
Gethsemane
- Fr. Vasko visits the Garden of Gethsemane and the church built
on the rock where Christ experienced his agony.
Via Dolorosa
- Fr. Vasko visits the Via Dolorosa, the path by which Christ
carried his cross to His crucifixion. The 5th, 6th, 8th, and 11th
Stations of the Cross are detailed.
A Jerusalem taxi driver discusses the different faiths sharing the Holy
Land.
The Church Of
The The Holy Sepulcher - Fr. Vasko visits the Calvary site inside
the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.
Plus, we hear a detailed interview from a craftsman woodcarver who owns
and runs a family shop in Bethlehem.
Christ's Tomb
- Fr. Vasko visits Christ’s tomb in the Holy Sepulcher. There’s also an
interview with the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem.
The Church Of
The Ascension - Fr. Vasko visits the Church of the Ascension,
where Christ ascended into Heaven after His resurrection. Plus, a local
storeowner in the Christian quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem
discusses the plight of Palestinian Christians.
