HOLY FATHER’S ADDRESS ON OCTOBER 3^RD

" For me it is an honor and a pleasure to be once again in Brazil, amongst this people whose admirable hospitality and contagious joy I am well acquainted with…I am here for you, I came to be with you and with you I wish to be!" [Thanking the civil and military authorities that greeted him he said:] "The dynamism inamismo of our faith awakens more and more a fraternal sense and a sense of harmonious cooperation, for a peaceful convivencia, and consolidate and give impulse to an orderly progress, which reaches all families and social categories, in conformity with the principles of justice and Christian charity."

"Today, I come once again to Brazil, to celebrate the Second World Meeting of Families. I thank Divine Providence for being here in this country of continental proportions, placed at the vanguard of the greatest world powers by the richness of its soil and subsoil, and by the industrious genius of its people. The cultural tradition and faith of its people has marked the development of its history, promising a bright future at the eve of the Third Millennium. The social inequities, the unequal and unjust distribution of its economic wealth—which provoke conflicts in both cities and rural areas—the need for a broad distribution of the basic means of health and education, the problems pose by unprotected children in large cities, not to cite other problems, certainly pose an enormous challenge to government of this people."
