OBAMACARE, R.I.P
Thursday, January 21, 2010
The ultimate death panel met this past Tuesday in Massachusetts. With the election of Scott Brown, voters in that state pronounced the death sentence upon Obama care. They reflected the feelings of the country's majority who felt that this bill reached too far and delivered too little.

With the announcement today from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi that she lacks the votes to pass the Senate bill, Obama care in its present form is dead. Democratic caucus members are now talking about a bill that would cherry pick health care provisions that enjoy bi-partisan support. We will now likely see piecemeal pieces of legislation that will improve health care bit by bit. One hopes that these bills will be free of the ideological attachment to abortion funding that has dominated the debate this past year. And true conscience clause protections wouldn't be a bad thing either.
