Father John Corapi, the powerful preacher whose programming appeared on EWTN for the better part of the last decade, announced this past week on his personal website that he is leaving priestly ministry.
In March, Father Corapi was suspended from public ministry by the superiors of his religious community, SOLT (Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity), over allegations of misconduct. An investigation was undertaken by his order. At the time, Father Corapi said a former employee accused him of having a "drug addiction," as well as "multiple sexual exploits with her and several other adult women." He said all the charges were false, and has since filed a civil suit against the accuser. Father Corapi cited the inability to clear his name through ecclesial means as his reason for quitting the priesthood.
