Special Assembly of the Synod of Bishops
for Africa
| On Sunday 11 April 1994 Pope John Paul II formally opened
the special synod for Africa. This Synod, which concluded on 8
May 1994, brought together cardinals, bishops, priests,
religious and laity from throughout Africa, as well as,
representatives of the Roman Curia. Following are the most
significant documents of the Synod. The final document of the
Synod, the Apostolic Exhortation Ecclesia in Africa (The
Church in Africa), was issued by the Holy Father
in Yaoundé, Cameroon, on 14 September 1995, Feast of the
Triumph of the Cross. |
