Ad Limina Addresses to Bishops of Canada

Bishops of Canada-Quebec - 1
On 11 May 2006, in the Clementine Hall to the Vatican, the Holy Father received the first group of Canadian Bishops to make their ad limina visit this year from the ecclesiastical circumscription of Quebec. The Pope addressed the problem of a shortage of priests in Quebec. Even so, the sacramentality of the Church must be maintained, and no equivocation on the dependence for existence of an ecclesial community on the ministry of a priest.

Bishops of Canada-Atlantic - 2
On Saturday, 20 May 2006, the Holy Father addressed a second group of Canadian Bishops from the Atlantic Region, in Rome for their ad limina visit. The Pope addressed the pervasive secularism in Canada, along with the plummeting birthrate. While praising the work of catechists, the Holy Father encouraged promotion of vocations.

On Friday, 8 September 2006, in the Consistory Hall of the Apostolic Palace at Castel Gandolfo, the Holy Father addressed a group of Canadian Bishops of the Ontario Province who were in Rome for their ad limina visit. The Pope described the fundamental task of the evangelization of culture as "the challenge to make God visible in the human face of Jesus."
