UNIVERSITIES' JUBILEE ENTERS ITS HIGH POINT	Great Congresses End and Meetings at Vatican Begin VATICAN CITY, SEP 8 (ZENIT.org).- Having begun with a great inaugural concert on September 3 in Jerusalem, today the Jubilee of University Professors entered its midpoint with the conclusion of 53 great congresses held in Italy, the Holy Land, and Lebanon. The academic meetings were attended by 9 Nobel Prize winners, and 300 rectors of universities from around the world. Among the latter, were those responsible for the Universities of Tokyo, California, India, St. Petersburg, Rio de Janeiro, and Israel. This event was a historical first, and the topics addressed were extremely varied: architecture, science, Biblical studies, bioethics, and medicine. The endeavor that unified all the congresses was the task of identifying the avenues of the new humanism of the third millennium in light of the Christian experience. All these pilgrims of the academic world met in Rome today to begin their official Jubilee activities; their first appointment was a concert in the Vatican by the Soloists of Aquila, under the baton of maestro Franco Mannino. Tomorrow, at 9 a.m., the entire university community will meet with John Paul II in the Vatican general audience hall, to live the spiritual dimension of their Jubilee more intensely, and to share with the Pope a summary of the work and intellectual commitment that has resulted from the past days of congresses.
