SAO PAULO: CITY'S ANNIVERSARY TO COINCIDE WITH JUBILEE Sao Paulo, 12 (NE) The city of Sao Paulo, Brazil, will celebrate its 446th anniversary on the
25th of January. Archbishop Claudio Hummes of Sao Paulo, archdiocese that shares the name
with one of Brazil's largest and most populated cities, announced the celebration of the "Jubilee
of Sao Paulo" to be held precisely that day. The main activity of this event will be a Mass
presided by Archbishop Hummes. Five auxiliary bishops from this Archdiocese together with
four Bishops from the other dioceses that are part of the city will be concelebrating, in a Mass
that expects to gather thousands of Brazilian faithful. The aim of the "Jubilee of Sao Paulo" is to
welcome the Holy Year's calling to conversion and to celebrate the city's joy for the 2000 years
of the Lord's birth.
