Cardinal Telesphore Placidus Toppo was born on October 15, 1939, in India. He was ordained a priest in 1969 and was appointed bishop of Dumka (Jharkhand) in 1978. In 1984, he was transferred to Ranchi as archbishop coadjutor, and, on August 25, 1995, was installed as archbishop of Ranchi. He was created a cardinal priest on October 21, 2003. His titular church is The Sacred Heart of Jesus in Agony at Vitinia. He continues to serve as Archbishop of Ranchi, India. |
