Cardinal Eusebio Oscar Scheid, S.C.I., was born on December 8, 1932, in Brazil. He joined the Congregation of Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and studied at that order's seminary in Corupa, Brazil He was ordained a priest in 1960. He also studied in Rome, receiving a doctorate in theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University. Specializing in Christology, he has taught theology at Christ the King Seminary, and various other seminaries. In 1981, he became director of the Faculty of Theology in Taubate, Brazil. On October 21, 2003, he was created a cardinal priest, and assigned the titular church of Sts. Boniface and Alexis. He is Archbishop of Sao Sebastiao do Rio de Janeiro. |
