Cardinal Anthony Olubunmi Okogie was born on June 16, 1936, in Nigeria. He studied at St. Peter and St. Paul's Seminary in Ibadan and at the Urban University in Rome, earning a degree in divinity. On October 21, 2003, he was created a cardinal priest, and was assigned the titular church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mt. Carmel of Mostacciano. He serves as Archbishop of Lagos.
