NOTE: If you are using a Cisco/SA receiver and the signal does not acquire (indicated by the green lock light flashing), please do the following: Go to the SETUP menu, select MORE and then select PSI menu. Under PSI, change setting from Basic to Auto and select to store. Hit the MENU button until you go back to the MAIN MENU. If you are prompted to Abort or Continue, choose Continue. Wait a moment, and the signal should acquire and lock. Choose the Virtual Channel needed per the above transmission plan.
The above HD transmission plan is effective July 1, 2012

 

2. Does EWTN recommend a particular brand or model of digital receiver?

EWTN does not recommend a particular brand of digital receiver. However, we use the Cisco (Scientific Atlanta) Power-Vu system to digitally encode our signal. Since our signal is in the clear (not encrypted), affiliates have a greater variety of IRDs (Integrated Receiver Decoders) from which to select; any digital receiver that is DVB-S compliant and capable of receiving an MPEG -2 signal, should be capable of receiving and decoding our signal. The most widely used Cisco IRDs are: Cisco (Scientific Atlanta) D9850 for DVB-S/MPEG-2 signals and Cisco (Scientific Atlanta) D9854 for DVB-S2/MPEG-4 signals. Please note that the Cisco (Scientific Atlanta) D9854 will receive both DVB-S/MPEG-2 and DVB-S2/MPEG-4 signals, as well as handle both SD and HD.
