Dana sang during the Rome 2000 World Youth Day. September 2000 - EWTN starts airing the show
In 2004, negative press followed Dana because of
her strong Pro- Life stance against an abortion bill. She lost re-election to the
European Parliament and ran again for the office of President of Ireland
but lost to Mary McAleese .
As if to give a reply to her critics Dana released a anthology of Pro-Life songs called "Perfect Gift - Songs for Life." It a collection of tunes that she has sung throughout her 20 year career. Also in 2004 Dana received a number of Catholic Music Unity Awards.
These included: In the spring of 2004, she became the first woman to be awarded the highly acclaimed San Benedetto (St. Benedict) Award in Subiacco, Italy, for her outstanding work in defending Family and Life. She was honoured to be personally congratulated by the then Cardinal Ratzinger, who in turn was chosen as the fifth recipient of this award in 2005, and was subsequently elected Pope Benedict XVI later that year.
Dana has been busy in 2005, making concert appearances and as a regular guest
on the Ireland TV program's The Afternoon Show and The Restaurant. She also released another prayer CD called "The Stations Of The Cross." For 2006 Dana has launched her own music label called "DS MUSIC" and with it released 'In Memory of Me - A Rosary of Intercession for Priests' which is a prayer for the protection and holiness of our priests around the world. | |
