EWTN launches first international satellite service on Intelsat 601 for Latin America.

EWTN provided unprecedented live coverage of Papal Visit '95 in both English and Spanish, on radio and via the Internet as the Holy Father visited the United Nations, New York, New Jersey, and Baltimore. Television coverage of this event could be seen in more than 20 countries and territories representing over 100 million homes.

At the request of the Vatican, EWTN airs coverage of the Celebration of the Family from St. Peter's Square.

December 22, 1995  
Mother Angelica expanded the network's commitment to a large Hispanic audience with the addition of SAP - second audio programming - to EWTN's programming.

To fully encompass all that God has given EWTN, the network changed its name to EWTN Global Catholic Network.
