EWTN joins people around the world in mourning the loss and praying for the repose of the soul of Father Harold Cohen who died on January, 16, 2001. Fr. Cohen was involved in TV and radio with Closer Walk Ministries in New Orleans, Louisiana. For over 14 years Fr. Cohen could be seen on EWTN in many capacities from a regular series host of Closer Walk to frequently co-hosting Mother Angelica Live. On many occasions he provided commentary in English or Spanish during live events; such as special events from Rome or the annual conference of the NCCB. Father Cohen's ministry was consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary in the desire of proclaiming the great mercy of God to the world. On every show he had a picture of the Merciful Jesus as revealed to Saint Faustina Kowalska. A native of New Orleans and a graduate of Jesuit High School in 1945, Fr. Cohen entered the Jesuit Novitiate in Grand Coteau, LA that same year. Ordained as a priest in 1958, Father Cohen held an S.T.L. in Theology and a M.S. in Educational Psychology. He taught and counseled at the secondary and university levels.
