HLI OFFERS HELP,
ENCOURAGEMENT TO WORLD YOUTH DAY PILGRIMS
|
"The future of the pro-family movement depends on how our youth embrace and approach the
message of Life," stated Andy Blom, Communications Director for Human Life International, the
world's largest pro-life, pro-faith, pro-family apostolate. "Reaching out
across different cultures to spread the message of faith is essential if we are to spread the Gospel of Life in our society. It is for
this reason that Human Life International is happy to offer help and hospitality to the pilgrims of the
2000 World Youth Day in Rome."
Human Life International is proud to be one of the many groups working to help the young pilgrims
of the Jubilee World Youth Day in Rome. HLI's Rome office, which works closely with the Holy
See, is committed to helping young people plan for and participate in the Youth Day Celebration.
Under the direction of Executive Director Fr. Ignacio Barreiro, HLI's Rome staff will be helping to
act as translators, tour guides, and teachers during the youth event. HLI's Rome office can be
reached by telephone at (3906) 39-37-89-85 and by e-mail at vuiroma@tin.it.
The Jubilee World Youth Day, to be held in Rome from August 15th through August 20th, will
feature a series of special events, focusing on the spiritual needs of today's young people. Included
in the festivities will be an International Youth Forum, bringing together delegates from all over the
world. Recently, it was announced that representatives from different continents would be invited by
the Pope to stay at his summer residence, Castelgandolfo, during the event.
"This year's World Youth Day will show that the message of faith, life, and family transcends the
boundaries of age and culture. Human Life International is honored to be able to help all learn more
about this city and this celebration," continued Mr. Blom. "This year, the city of Rome has seen the
shame of a festival that glorified immorality. Now the spirit of youth will transform and renew the
city, showing the watching world that the spirit of Truth will prevail."
