Catholic Protocol
Question from Darlene on 4/2/2005:
United States

What should I be doing in this time of mourning for the Pope? How can I share this with my daughter, 5yo? Thank you, Darlene

Answered on 4/3/2005:

There is no protocol beyond the obvious, which is to pray. Pray for the repose of the Holy Father's soul. (It may seem unnecessary in his case, but I'm sure he would want you to do it.) Pray for the Church in this time of loss. And pray for the Cardinals, as they gather in conclave to elect the next Pope. I also suggest that, to please the Holy Father, and even more, to please our Heavenly Father, we should make a special effort at this time to live at peace with our neighbors.
