To each of you, my brothers and sisters in Christ. To each of you who feel, as I do, a great sense of loss, a deep sadness as one might feel with the loss of a close family member. I have lived to to see the passing of 5 popes. I can tell you that this Holy Father, John Paul ll was truely a member of each of our families. Did we not love him? Did we not listen to what he said, even though we may have disagreed with him at times? Did we not pray for him when he was injured or ill? Were we not happy when our prayers were answered and he was well? As his life began to ebb away, did we not pray he be made well but end-ed the prayer with, "Lord thy will be done"? Now we know that his work here is done and that he,John Paul ll, has gone home. Gone home to rest. Gone home to his heavenly reward. Gone home to be with Jesus and Mary and all the rest of his and our heavenly family. Be happy my brothers and sisters, be joyful and thank God for having given us John Paul ll. Remember that twinkle in his eyes, the smile, the sense of humor. Remember the happieness and joy he brought to so many people, especially the young, as he traveled the world. Mostly remember what a holy man he was ....and try to imitate him in some little way, each day. May God bless us all.
