the loss of the Pope John Paul II
May Pope John Paul II Rest in Peace. Despite my differences with the Church and the Pope's conservative stances, I am greatly saddened with the passing of Pope John Paul II. It is like how one feels about one's own actual father...although you may not always see eye to eye with your father, you still love him. And the whole world loved and admired the pontiff..from all cultures, religions, and ethnic backgrouds, as evidenced by the tremendous outpouring of mourners who converged on the Vatican to say goodbye. I especially admired him for his stands on social justice, his denouncement of the excessses of consumerism and capitalism in the Western Countries, his strong role in the fall of communism, his love of peace and dislike of war, and his tireless work to reach out across other religions and touch all of humanity. I loved his sense of humor, his wit, his charm, his charisma, and his special way with children. And his love of art and culture. He was an intellectual who never lost touch with the common man and woman and their daily struggles. He was truly the people's pope and I doubt we see the likes of such a man again in our lifetime. Peace to the world and may he rest in peace.
