Cardinal Fiorenzo Angelini was born on August 1, 1916, in Rome. He was ordained a priest on February 3, 1940, and served as Master of Pontifical Ceremonies from 1947 until 1954. On July 29, 1956, he was ordained titular bishop of Messene. In 1985 he became president of Rome Vicariate's section for the Apostolate to Health Care Workers. He was elevated to Cardinal on June 28, 1991, as titular Deacon of Holy Spirit, in Sassia. He continued to serve as president of the Pontifical Council for Pastoral Assistance to Health Care Workers until retired on 31 December 1996. In 25 February 2002, he was appointed Cardinal-Priest of Santo Spiritu in Sassia.
