Second Glorious Mystery:
The Ascension
(Intention: To rise above the things of this world) [ Recite
1 Our Father - 10 Hail Marys - 1 Glory be to the Father ]
Dear Jesus, I find the day You ascended to the Father a sad day. It resembles my soul
when, after experiencing Your Presence, it is plunged into a state of dryness. Like the
Apostles I tend to stand still and look up in the hope that I will once again experience
the joy of Your Presence.
When this happens, my Lord, remind me of the Angels's admonition, "Why do you stand
here idle looking up to Heaven?"
This dryness of soul is something I must work with and not against. Help me to realize
that when I feel Your Presence You are consoling me, but when I do not feel that Presence
and I continue a life of love and virtue, I am consoling You.
Teach me to prefer consoling You to being consoled, and give me the light to exercise my
Faith when all seems dark.
I want to rise above the demands of my emotions and have the courage to live in spirit and
truth. Grant me the Faith that is always aware of the invisible reality, the Hope that
trusts in Your promises, and the Love that seeks not itself.
