Mary Candle

The Christ candle, a large candle bearing the Chi-Rho symbol of Christ, is covered with blue and white cloths during Advent. This represents Mary carrying Jesus in her womb and reminds us that she waited for the birth of Jesus, the Light of the World

White or cream pillar candle Candle painting medium Compatible red paint Paintbrush Blue and white handkerchiefs or cloth napkins

1. Mix candle painting medium and paint.

2. Paint the Chi-Rho symbol on the candle.

3. Let dry.

4. Cover with cloths and keep covered during Advent.

5. Uncover and light at Christmas to represent Jesus, the Light of the World.

6. Light it during Christmastide prayers and/or meals, but don't burn it unattended.
